Charging problems are common — but not always the port. Here’s how to diagnose and fix them.
Symptoms
Intermittent charging, needing to wiggle the cable, slow charging, or no data transfer.
First, rule out the obvious
Clean lint from the port and test with a known-good cable and charger before opening the device.
When to replace the flex
If cleaning and cable swaps don’t fix it, the charging-port flex is usually the culprit — especially after physical or liquid damage. Many models use a replaceable flex assembly.
Board-level cases
If a new flex doesn’t resolve it, the fault may be on the board (tristar/charging IC) and needs micro-soldering.
